The South Gloucestershire Faith Forum has undertaken to complete an audit of work being done by faith groups in the communities in South Gloucester and have appointed a consultant, Martin Gregg, who will be helping to complete this project.
It is most important that we can demonstrate to the local authority, that faith groups make an invaluable contribution to the social and cultural life of South Gloucestershire. Furthermore, the more information we have, the more we can demonstrate the savings to the local authority and health authority that your services make, by providing resources that would otherwise have to be paid for by the council, or by other voluntary and community organisations through grant funding. It will contribute significantly towards South Gloucestershire’s strategic objectives including fostering better relations in the community, supporting safer neighbourhoods groups and encouraging volunteering.
The audit is currently supported by the Dioceses of Bristol and of Gloucester, regional representatives of the Baptists and Methodists, Bristol and District Evangelical Alliance, Bristol Celebration Churches, Bristol Christian Action Network (BCAN) and the West of England Network, South Gloucestershire Council of Voluntary Service and the main Muslim community organisations in the area.
The information received will be used to produce a database of faith organisations in South Gloucestershire, encourage networking between faith communities, help identify sources of funding for faith based activities, demonstrate the value to the community of faith based activities and identify new opportunities for faith based activity in South Gloucestershire.
The audit will shortly be available through this web site, but in the meantime, if you would like to complete a survey, please contact Alistair Beattie (South Gloucestershire Faith Forum, c/o faithnetsouthwest, 162 Pennywell Road, Bristol BS5 0TX. Tel: 0117 304 2298 Email:
